What is the difference between stain and paint?
Staining a fiberglass door makes the grain pop and creates the warm look of a real wood door. There are various options of stain colours available. The stain is applied by hand in our facilities by staining experts. Two coats of stain are topped by three coats of spar urethane, which protects the door from sun. A coat of spar urethane must be reapplied every 4-6 years, depending on the amount of sun exposure on the door – this maintenance takes roughly a few hours of your day, but it is worth preserving the stain’s natural beauty and warmth.
Woodgrain doors can also be painted. Painted doors create a crisp, clean and elegant look, while still showcasing the texture of the grain. There are many colours available to match your home. The doors are spray painted in our paint booth with high quality paint that is composed of UV protectant to shield from the sun and hardener to ensure a durable finish. Doorway Inc. takes pride in the look of our painted doors and quality paint is a key factor to this success.
